Research interests: I have a wide-ranging interest in studying the structural and mechanistic bases of function and interaction between proteins, using crystallography, cryo-EM and other tools. 

Background: Phil studied chemistry at UEA, during which time he developed an interest in medicinal chemistry and protein structure. He completed a PhD at the University of Nottingham using structural biology to study transaminase biocatalysts, then continued at Nottingham in a group studying natural product biosynthesis in fungal NRPS-like enzymes, before joining the Webby lab at Warwick, working on the Tol-Pal system.
